Fighting Asian Hair With Keratin Kung Fu

I don’t know why but for me Kung Fu just isn’t enough, Asian hair seems totally immune to straightening hair care products such or smoothing lotions and creams. Especially to all of us Japanese girls, you will know what i mean. We have courser strands of hair which never succumb to the Caucasian hair products designed style and straighten thinner and softer hair types. Lets face it Asian hair can be very unmanageable, even with regular hot irons, re bonding and trips to the salon, Asian hair has a mind of its own and can be quite a costly expense trying to manage it. I think it would also be fair to say that Asian hair has been left out of the hair care market and neglected for its specific needs.

However, some recent findings have been promising as there now seems to be stronger products to cure the unmanageable and course Asian hair. Out of all of the straightening products I’ve used there is now a solution which can be found in many salons across the globe. This new trend originates from Brazil and wasn’t initially designed with Asian hair in mind. However it certainly has done wonders on my hair and I’m sure others with course unmanageable hair of the ethnic variety.

The products which are winning this crowing glory are Keratin based products, there are at the time of writing this 3 leading brand name Keratin products currently available. I have personally only tried the Global Keratin treatment which is a non chemical straightener that smooths and reconditions the hair, plus it lasts up to 5 months. Best of all the process is not irreversible and the straightening can be reverted back to natural waves if need be.

For me this is fabulous news because it means no more damage to the hair cuticles from regular hot irons, chemicals and re bonding. Global Keratin actually nourishes and replenishes the hairs natural keratin and vitamins. Also the more applications the product is used the better the hair quality and shine will become. However i was pretty impressed by just the first application, i cant imagine it looking even better, so its all good news.

The product is applied on damp hair to allow the cuticles to absorb more of the nutrients and keratin, then a flat iron can be used to seal in these nutrients and glossing the hair from the inside out. After 2 days the hair can then be washed and you can enjoy amazingly soft, silky, smooth and even shiny straight hair.

The Global Keratin range has been designed to keep course thick hair lasting in this beautiful state for longer and without chemicals or damage. The only draw back to Global Keratin is that local salons may charge a hundred dollars or more for the 3 hour Keratin treatment session. However, considering these amazing keratin results can lasts for up to 5 months and cost less than typical re bonding or weekly trips to the salon, like many things in life quality is worth it in the long run and pays for itself many times over.

I have been studying hair and beauty for over 20 years and work at The Corner Hair Salon Bangkok.
